Backup Colony Feeder for Mooney Grove Park

We feed four colonies at Mooney Grove Park. They are fed everyday and we have a feeder for each day, but sometimes need a backup feeder. You would be given the cat food and shown where and how to feed them. You would need to bring water to each feeding station. We make sure to remove any trash that the public leaves when they think they are helping and leave food. We only have 22 cats currently at the park and have been stable for many years. These cats have lived there a long time and don’t allow new cats to enter or feed, The Vacuum Effect  Volunteer Here

Fostering and Taming Kittens

Visalia Feral Cat Coalition would love to have you foster kittens for us. When we Trap Neuter Return sometimes we get kittens. As an organization we are not a rescue and don’t take in kittens, but the members who trap them take responsibility for them personally. Either fostering them themselves or finding fosters for them. The kittens will be tamed and adopted out. It’s the only time we will handle kittens. If you ever attempt to tame feral kittens we suggest you have some leather gloves and keep them away from you face. They think they are fighting for their lives. Volunteer Here

TNR Clinic Worker

We are looking for dedicated volunteers for our clinic days. These days are demanding, starting at 6 AM and continuing until 4 PM, and they involve tasks such as heavy lifting and caring for cats with surgery wounds. Despite the challenges, this is one of the most rewarding volunteer opportunities available. Your efforts will directly improve the health and happiness of the cats, reducing the incidence of diseases like FIP and Feline Leukemia, and curbing constant fighting among feral cats. By participating, you’ll witness the life-changing impact of our clinic firsthand and know that without volunteers, our work wouldn’t be possible. If you can help, please join us. Volunteer Here

Transporting Feral Cats For People Who Can't

We get contacted all the time by people who can’t transport a caged cat due to age or a disability. You would need to meet with the person and decide if you want to transport for them. Make sure there is a clear understanding that the cat will come back to recover at the trappers location and how to recover the cat (printed instructions will be given). They would need to cover copays and gas money to you. It would be your responsibility to decide if you want to help the person. VFCC does not vet these people so make sure you, call to get a feeling for the situation, take someone with you to check it out, and don’t take the cats until you receive the funds. This can be very rewarding as people are really grateful for the help.  Volunteer Here

Trapping for the Elderly or Disable

We frequently receive inquiries from individuals who are unable to trap cats due to age or disability, and we need your help to assist them. As a volunteer, you’ll meet with these individuals to determine if you’d like to trap cats on their behalf. They are expected to cover copays and gas expenses.

Please note that you will be responsible for deciding whether to offer your assistance. VFCC does not screen these individuals, so we highly recommend that you call them to get a sense of the situation, and if possible, bring someone along for an initial visit. Ensure that you receive the necessary funds before taking the cats.

Volunteering in this capacity can be incredibly rewarding, as those you help are truly grateful for your support. Thank you for considering this meaningful opportunity.  Volunteer Here

Volunteer Coordinator
