Lisa Kucala is the current President of the Visalia Feral Cat Coalition (VFCC). Previously, I served as Vice President in 2018. My journey with VFCC began in 2016 when Dr. Kuswa invited me to attend a meeting during a checkup appointment for my cat, Katniss. Though the meeting was small, it was incredibly inspiring to see how much these dedicated individuals were doing to help local cats. I knew I had to get involved, so I joined VFCC as a volunteer.

Initially, I focused on trapping and feeding local feral cats. I acquired skills in taming and fostering feral kittens and even assisted with technical support during our spay/neuter clinics. The knowledge I gained from the other members was invaluable. I became a board member in 2017 and assumed the role of President in 2019. My background in computer and marketing skills enabled me to contribute significantly to the coalition’s growth, allowing us to save more cats.

The Visalia Feral Cat Coalition has been steadily expanding its impact. We have partnered with several local rescues to organize numerous mass Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) clinics, collaborating with organizations such as Companion Animal Medical Center, Tulare County Animal Control, City of Tulare Animal Services, Valley Oak SPCA, and New Village Pets.

Currently, VFCC aims to hold a monthly TNR clinic, where we successfully spay and neuter around 80 cats each session.

This scrappy looking kitten showed up at my feral feeding station. He was trapped, bathed, tamed and loved on for a couple months. He was named Lil Gus.
Lil Gus now has a forever home with an amazing family!
